Tanzania Working Days Calculator

Count working days between two dates in Tanzania, excluding weekends and 2026 public holidays.

Working days in Tanzania — what counts

"Working days" in Tanzania normally excludes Sundays and 14 public holidays. Saturdays are a half-day or full work day depending on the sector — banking and government close at 12:30; retail and most private firms run a full Saturday. This calculator lets you toggle Saturday inclusion to match your sector.

Common use cases

  • Project planning — number of working days between contract start and delivery.
  • HR — leave, notice periods, probation periods (typically 6 months working).
  • Court & legal — most Tanzanian statutes count working days, not calendar.
  • Tax filings — return-due windows. Pair with the Tax Calendar 2026.

2026 long weekends to plan around

  • April 3–6 — Good Friday + Easter Monday (4-day weekend).
  • April 26 (Sunday) → 27 (observed Mon) — Union Day.
  • May 21–22 — Eid el-Fitr (estimated).
  • December 25–26 — Christmas + Boxing Day.

See Public Holidays 2026 for the full list and iCal download.

Take this further

Working days drive delivery dates, penalty clauses and leave accrual. Tawala Projects schedules against the Tanzanian working calendar, and Tawala HR & Payroll applies the same calendar to leave and notice periods.
